Teacher"Pupils were hooked from our pre visit read of Ava’s Destiny, they urged me to look to see if there was a sequel as the story was not finished! Their delight on then stumbling upon Ava’s nest on the day of our visit was magical. We had a fantastic day loving being outside and taking pleasure from the simplicity of the nature activities, of course the pupils also loved the translator phones!
Back in school we eagerly tracked Ava’s journey, this became a real highlight of the day! Pupils cheered when she finally reached her family! We set about collecting badges both in and for some out of school. One pupil was heard exclaiming, “This is the best day of my life!” as he ran barefoot across the field!
Parents commented that their children were loving the challenges, getting outside more and were more willing to come off consoles. Pupils have been completely engaged and have certainly improved their cultural capital, the smiles on their faces as they earned badges were priceless.
Some families have returned to Martin Mere using their free pass and a staff member drove our school minibus through the half term break offering transport enabling more families to take advantage, this was gratefully received."
