Dear Generation Wild,
Thank you so much for inviting us to take part in the Generation Wild activities, along with our visit to the WWT in Arundel and in particular following Ava on her journey.
The children had the most amazing time – no body got bored! Even now, several weeks after the event, children are still talking about some of the things that they saw or learnt during their trip. This has worked well alongside our current RE topic on Creation, where the children talk about the plants and birds that they saw at WWT, as well as in our current science topic, Livings Things and Their Habitats. The trip to WWT has enhanced their learning in so many ways.
Quite a number of children within our school (not just Apple Class) have been taking part in the challenges to become ‘Guardians of The Wild’ and have been awarded their certificates and badges. It is lovely to be able to see and track their journey as well as hear the children sharing how they completed these activities. Some of the parents who did not give consent for the children to be included on the Generation Wild website have since been in and asked for their children to be added as they are excited about completing the challenges.
The picture below is some of the nature pictures that we have created as a class, using only nature (and some glue!). The children have really enjoyed being able to get outside in the fresh air and design their own scenes.
The pictures below here are some creations that we managed to link to Ava’s story. In groups, the children were given a small piece of clay and they had to create a fictional creature that can live in a set habitat.
Many thanks for taking the time to hear how positive our learning experiences have been!
