Guardians of the Wild

"We had a really exciting outdoor school session this week and we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather for walking up to the RSPB wildlife reserve with our Guardians of the Wild. We focused on quiet listening to our local birds, and gentle interaction with our environment when identifying plants and insects! We talked about why the reserve was protected, and why it was important to be so respectful of the nature we found there.

Jack in year 3 said "We need to look after even the bugs so so carefully because they are all really, really important." And we agreed that we couldn't have said it any better than that!

As it comes to the end of the year I feel like it is important for me, as a member of school staff involved in this program, to say thank you. The children who have become part of our school's Guardians of the Wild have flourished with their time outdoors regardless of age, academic ability, or learning need. The impact it has made on the confidence of our children with special educational needs is astounding and we are so grateful to have been involved in the Generation Wild project, and to be able to watch our SEN children succeed. It has impacted these children's lives and how they interact with our planet for the better."
